Convertible13
What a fricken mess. My console looks like it puked. I have power to the fuse panel, neg and pos connections in the panel are clean and tight, engine starts but nav lights, lenco tabs, live well pumps... All dead. I have a diode connected to the positive stern light wire that also connects three more wires, I'm guessing the port and starboard lights up front. Not sure if the diode is good or bad. Figured if someone is having wiring problems, they could look at mine and realize there's isn't so bad. Lol
hurricane
Could have power, but not able to carry the current due to bad connections elsewhere. Check the connections on the other end of pos and neg. Pos most likely connected to battery switch, and should be a ground post by battery switch. The diode, just allows one switch to operate, nav or anchor or both. If it was bad lights would work in one position but the other.
KeeKee Run
yeah I laughed and then I thought ah hell mines just like that!
Headhunter
Just went through the same think on our maverick. The power to the panel comes to the cigarette lighter socket first then jumps across to the rest of the panel. I found the connector to the socket was ever so slightly loose with a touch of corrosion. Cleaned and crimped, perfect!
whichwaysup
If that's the case, I think you found the issue! Look at the wires on his cigarette lighter!

Convertible13
Had to rewire my gps/fish finder last year at the SW Florida Maverick tournament. It went out just after I put the boat in the water to pre-fish. Guess I'll be looking into trying to rewire my cigarette lighter. Thanks for the suggestion. mdemott
Convertible13 , not half as bad as many that I've seen. If you are going to some clean up you might want to think about circuit breakers and eliminate the fuses. A negative buss mounted in a accessible location is also a good idea. Since grounds or negatives seem to cause problems it would be easier to troubleshoot.
SCFD rtrd.
After seeing the pics, it's probably not unusual to start the circuits at the cig-lighter, then jump to the other switches. If you think about it, the cig-lighter occasionally draws more current than all the other switches put together. mdemott is right, you need a central location for all the grounds just like the fuse panel is a central location for the positive wires. No matter which you decide to make the repairs, make sure you thoroughly coat each connection with Corrosion-X (red can).
Nauti
Ha, looks a lot like mine too...mine might be worse. It's been on my "to-do" list for a while but I hate working in that cramped little space so it gets put off for 'another' weekend.
blewbyu
What a mess. I had Mike at Master Repair in Stuart make me a custom panel with push button breakers for my rig. All I had to do was hook up each component to the Carling switches. Never a problem since. No fuses.
