Lowcountry Joe
Can somebody tell me how to remove an original (2005) Carling switch from the switch panel. It's the trim tab switch but that doenn't matter because their all the same. I remove all the wires from the back of the switch, lifted up the tabs and the back of the switch came off and a bunch of little pieces fell out. HELP !! SCFD rtrd.
Switches are different, but the one you describe have tabs on either end to disassemble the switch. I think that's what happened. There should also be a plastic release on either end that resemble teeth. Those teeth grab the fiberglass when you push the switch through the hole. Compress both tabs at the same time and the switch should pop out in one piece. It might be easier to pull the whole panel out, so you can see the release tabs. They are kinda tuff to squeeze. Sometimes you have to get one end out, then work on the other.
