Mike Bell Posted February 25, 2017 Report Posted February 25, 2017 Searching high and low, wanting to buy a MA18.
whichwaysup Posted February 26, 2017 Report Posted February 26, 2017 Lol, get in line! I think there are about 5 guys on the hunt! All teasing aside, there are a few good options out there if you like red, or if early 90s are okay. If you cant find em i can post links. Can you be more specific on what you are looking for, your must-haves, and your price range?
Mike Bell Posted February 26, 2017 Author Report Posted February 26, 2017 Agreed, I've noticed the line which speak volumes for this hull, also noting that not many want to part with either! Range... <15 with the intent to repower rather quickly No big must-haves, just clean and not abused (not needing TLC) Year range: 1990+ I'm constantly searching this site, craigslist, boattrader, thehulltruth, microskiff... are there any other places I am missing??
justfish Posted February 26, 2017 Report Posted February 26, 2017 Just be patient. They seem to come in waves. if I was looking, I'd literally have at least some (if not a lot) cash on hand and be ready to make a deal quick. Look outside of Florida and be willing to travel - Alabama and Georgia both produce a lot of "Florida" boats at good deals If your on Facebook "trick my skiff" is a good page to watch
Mike Bell Posted February 26, 2017 Author Report Posted February 26, 2017 Great advice, thank you! Yes, will be a cash deal. Just another hurry up and wait, just like work at the firehouse 😉. Stay safe bud!
Nag Juice Posted February 26, 2017 Report Posted February 26, 2017 Market is hot right now. I'm currently looking for the same hull for 2 different people. I imagine they'll start popping up here soon. There was a time when you couldn't find a 21MA, now there's quite a few out there.
RiMav18 Posted March 2, 2017 Report Posted March 2, 2017 my craft is for sale. Price up for negotiations. No need to repowered it was just done.
Mike Bell Posted March 4, 2017 Author Report Posted March 4, 2017 You've got a sweet ride, that's for sure! I just can't justify a 2000+ mile road trip (just YET) knowing well enough another sled will come around soon. Patience isn't easy, especially looking at such a great looking MA.
brudnlaw65 Posted March 7, 2017 Report Posted March 7, 2017 I'm in Texas I've got a 2003 ma thinking of letting go.
whichwaysup Posted March 7, 2017 Report Posted March 7, 2017 Brudnlaw - can you post some pics? There are a few folks that would like to see it . . . . just to drool a bit at the possibility!
Mike Bell Posted March 7, 2017 Author Report Posted March 7, 2017 Pm me bud and send over some more information and pictures.
whichwaysup Posted March 7, 2017 Report Posted March 7, 2017 Sorry Mike, wasn't trying to get out in front of you (I'm not in the market, I promise). Just love looking at these things.
Mike Bell Posted March 7, 2017 Author Report Posted March 7, 2017 No worries buddy, I didn't mean for it to come across that I didn't want to share the eye candy. Just didn't want to bore the thread with Q/A. Buddy I too have spent endless hours drooling over boats, thankfully we are now in the "game" of making it happen!
Mike Bell Posted March 7, 2017 Author Report Posted March 7, 2017 I am very thankful for this site and all you guys that stir up mountains of knowledge and information, I truly have learned a lot and wouldn't intend to cross anyone, especially on this site or any site for that matter.

Absolutely! We have a great squad around here.
whichwaysup Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Mike - We gotta help you find one of these things now. They will come in waves and we're about due. The one that just popped up may just be the beginning. Happy to help you with model year info (there are differences) if you are interested.
Mike Bell Posted March 8, 2017 Author Report Posted March 8, 2017 Whichwayisup- I am checking multiple sites, a couple times a day bud, preferably, I'd like a mid-90's MA18. I like the cap with the split compartment forward and stand alone anchor locker. As well, I am in love with the smaller square console. Certainly with the hit and miss nature of finding this hull compromises are inevitable..... and consoles are a dime a dozen 😉. (Oh and a red hull is just silly, but to each his own) Power isn't relevant, as long as the overall sale price isn't dictated by it, a repower will happen regardless almost immediately. The ultimate "unicorn" would be a 90's MA18 without power but lord knows I can't be too picky otherwise my search my never end. Until then, the chase is fun and I've had the opertunity to meet some great folks with awesome stories and really slick rides!
Nag Juice Posted March 8, 2017 Report Posted March 8, 2017 Scroll through here. I saw a few 18s listed close to what you're looking for.
whichwaysup Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Mike - you ever find one? BTW, I posted this ad out on Florida Sportsman to see if we can flush out a few more of these things: http://forums.floridasportsman.com/showthread.php?240910-A-few-folks-looking-for-18-Maverick-Master-Anglers&p=2978612#post2978612 Hope it helps!
Mike Bell Posted March 16, 2017 Author Report Posted March 16, 2017 Whichwaysup Sadly, not yet. I promise I'll share and show her off when I do though. Thanks for spreading the word on other forums, I keep searching and reaching out, sooner or later another wave will come along, fingers crossed!
Convertible13 Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Try Boat Trader. Saw 3 MAs there. A 1999 18 and a couple MA 17s.
whichwaysup Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Was the 99 the red one? That one really was pretty, but doesn't seem to be on anyone's radar. Surprised. I still like that RI one in gray.
Convertible13 Posted March 16, 2017 Report Posted March 16, 2017 Yep to the red. A MA 18.5 is listed. 1992 for $19,900. 2011 4 stroke 115 HP. A lot of options too. Also listed is a 1993 MA 18 with tower for $22,000. Very light blue.

I think it changed in 1998 or maybe 1997. I think the year they added the sea chest. Mine is a 96 and has the cap you describe with double rod lockers but no sea chest to feed the wells rather they used high speed pickup ups. The consoles were shorter height too as you mentioned. No windshield on most or maybe that was an option.
