Jlb
My boat is almost 2 years old and on the last trip coming into the dock I noticed my 704 binnacle got very stiff to shift back to neutral from forward. Anyone have this happen or know what it could be and is it covered under warranty?
SCFD rtrd.
Can't advise about warranty, but you need to get this fixed asap. Could be a number of problems including binnacle, cables, connection at motor or a shifting problem in the motor. Last thing you want is to have a failure on the water. jason p
It's fairly straight forward to disconnect the throttle and shift cables from the engine, that way you can move the binnacle and linkage on the engine separate from one another and at least know what your dealing with. If it's something with the binnacle it may not be covered (my trim switch wasn't covered anyway)
Bamaskeet
You might want to use some soft grease around the area where the shift cable attaches to the linkage. Don't use stiff grease, it will make shifting harder.
Jlb
When i looked at the linkage to the motor the plastic latch that holds the top cable in line was undone so i snapped it back and think that will solve it hopefully. Will run it tomorrow to see. Thanks for all of the info.
