Dale Nelson
I have a buddy with an older Redfisher that keeps getting an air lock issue on his live well. I tried doing searches on here but haven't really found anything. I seem to remember some talking about this.
SCFD rtrd.
Need more information about when the airlock occurs. Is it when he first puts the boat in the water, or after running. What type of water pick-up does he have? Is the intake a cheese-grater tape or some type or forward facing scoop? The pumps should be at or lower than the water-line and the hose supplying the live well should always angle up, with no low areas to trap water. Basically there is not just one simple solution or reason that causes air-lock. But, it can be resolved, just have to know what we are dealing with. lurem
Mine would catch air sometimes unti i started idling forward. Maybe the seachest had an air pocket? Sometimes I have had to unscrew the clear housing for the screen and let it catch a little air with the pump on. then screw it back on tight (be careful not to crack housing by over tightening) when the pump starts pumping water. You will have to do a little trouble shooting to find out why it is catching air.
