Tall Tails
My 2200V has a few console screws that no longer tighten. I think they go into an aluminum backing plate. Can anyone confirm this? If that is true then I should be able to just run a slightly larger tap through the hole and use the next larger screw size. If others have had this issue please tell me what your fix for this issue was. Thanks in advance.
smooth move
i think they have a nut on the inside. talked to a guy that tried to remove his console and the screws just spun. interested in how this comes out, cause i'll need to remove mine next year. gamecocks2001
My 2004 1900 didn't have a backing plate. The screws were just screwed into the deck boss. I through bolted all of my screws. Easy to reach them all through the inspection hatch.

It was really easy to replace the screws with stainless bolts and put a lock nut on them. You will need someone to hold the new screw with a screwdriver from the outside. Tarpon1215
Failing that good advice above, Capt. Ken Doss recommended glassing the console down for rigorous use.
