Ron in Atlanta
Stopped at a few favorite places and some new places on the way to a 90th birthday party for my Mother-in-Law in Delray beach. Don't think I'll tie up at THAT dock! Deland, St Johns River This is a Little Blue Heron. Yeah, I know but he will turn blue when he gets a little older. Mama Limpkin teaches her chick how to remove a snail from the shell with just her beak. The rest of the Limpkin Family. Kissimmee River. I was wondering what this raptor was, a Harrier maybe? No dummy, see what's in my beak. I'm a Snail Kite! Southern Lake Kissimmee. The Sandhill Crane family, Lake Kissimmee. Blue Cypress Lake. 264 active Osprey nests and the whole lake is bordered by old growth Cypress trees. Mama Wood Stork serves Sushi to her kids. A very common bird, the Great White Egret but how can we resist this beauty for just one more photo. Black Necked Stilt gets ready to sit back down on her eggs. A small Dinosaur. Romance is in the air. A pair of Cattle Egrets in breeding plumage. OK, one fishing photo. This guy is good! See you out there.

As you know, this is the " Serious Amateur's" version of a full size sensor camera. As opposed to the D 5, the pro camera, which costs more than the total of the first 7 automobiles that I've owned. The full size sensor provides much better resolution than 1/2 sensor (or DX in Nikon- speak). Plus, I've been shooting in RAW format which provides color and details that I've never seen before. Been using a Sigma Sport 180 - 600mm lens for most of the wildlife shots. Weighs a ton but focuses very fast and can be hand-held even at 600mm!!! I also use a more compact and lighter weight Nikon 80 - 400mm for dolphin surveys, etc where I need to hold the camera all day without rest. I love that 600mm lens, lets you get frame-filling shots without disturbing the critters. See you out there.
