C-Los
Hi all, I have Garmin 541 that works great for what I do but the other day I fished on a boat with Navionics and wow I loved the detail on it. so I'm thinking of upgrading to Navionics on a Raymarine unit or Simrad. Looking for chart detail and sounder. Anything suggestion on which unit? thanks!
Capt. Tyler
Simrad for sure
palmetto1
Just bought Simrad Go9. Nice feature for the money in these "Go" series.
FunFlatsFishing
Simrad Go series with total scan transducer. Add the navionics platinum plus chart.
hurricane
Simrad or Lowrance, the software is the same. Total scan is the stuff.
Headhunter
You might want to look at the garmin satilite card. Pretty close to navionics but it only runs on their latest stuff so check the compatibility.
MPFit
I've got Humminbird with navionics. Love it. BUT if I could do it over; I'd go Simrad GO7/9XSE with Florida Marine Tracks. FMT (if you live in Florida) is the best map I have ever seen. But it is EXPENSIVE! Either way- simrad is better than Raymarine IMO and navionics is really nice although I've never used Garmins top of the line chip. FMT blows them all out of the water
Drummer
Has anybody used the Simrad go9 in a flats boat with no windshield? I wonder about the unit getting sprayed with saltwater and whether the screen is visible in bright daylight. Thoughts? Thanks.
HewesYourDaddy
I've got a Lowrance Elite7ti touch screen on my Hewes w/out a windshield. You can adjust the brightness and it is one of the best screens I've seen in the daylight.
Inshore1
Drummer, I've got a NSS9 on a Master Angler with no windshield. Never had an issue with spray and the screen is crystal clear.

Drummer
If I get the Go9 with totalscan, do I need anything else to install and hit the water? Does anybody know where the deals are? I have a Lowrance HDS 7 gen 2 now and am looking to upgrade.

gamecocks2001
Does anyone have an opinion on which is better. The insight that comes with the Simrad or the Navionics chip?
MPFit
FMT > Navionics > Garmin > all others This is what I've noticed (with the top level map from each company). I haven't used G2 extensively however if it isn't a 3rd party map then the stock maps aren't worth much.

To get all of that information yourself, you could easily spend six figures on charters. Theres like thousands of miles of Tracks just in S. FL alone. Pretty crazy. They even go up into all the canals. By that measure they are practically free. The imagery and the tracks and the accuracy and all of the extra fine details makes it. Nothing else remotely close. And all done part time I hear by a fisherman who has a banking gig. Incredible. No idea how that was pulled off but someone has a ton of work in it. Makes you wonder if FMT was created like this as a side hobby why it is Garmin and Navionics *** so bad by comparison.

Yes but it's only available for the umbrella company that owns Lowrance and Simrad. Humminbird and Raymarine are a different software not yet compatible with FMT... yet
