touchdown
Someone here has posted a product that bolts over a broken torsion axle to "get home" in an emergency. Anyone have a link to something like that?
hurricane
Im not sure of that product. However, on most torsion axles you can replace the spindle and hub assembly. In theory its pretty easy, one big nut on the back of the spindle, however toss in corrosion and it might be tough roadside.
conocean
The E axle made by Air Tight fits over a damaged spindle but I've never heard of a product that can bolt over a compromised axle. http://www.airtighthubs.com/products/index/3/#
hurricane
Thats cool, but I guess you need to have trailer brakes for it work. I also assume you have to remove the brake caliper bracket to install it. Getting the bracket bolts off on the side of road could be just as hard as removing the spindle. I would just carry a spare spindle, and hub with bearings greased and installed.
