brokenskeg
Can anyone tell me if the boat would do ok with a jack-plate mounted 150 on it, or would it have to much set-back on it? Looking at this boat and the redfisher 18. I already have a lightly used 150 that I would like to put on one of these. Thanks!
MPFit
I have a 150 on my Redfisher. 54mph boat trimmed on a flat day. Great setup. No experience with a Maverick though. I also don't have a jackplate.
SWilson
I ran a 2012 18 HPX for 4 years, with a 150 OptiMax ProXS, no jack plate. These boats perform so well without a JP. The motor sits way above the back deck by design and I never been anywhere that I wished I had a jack. Also, with such a large motor hanging off the back, the hull is weight sensitive. Balance and having the right prop will be key to get the performance you are looking for.
jason p
18's with F150s are somewhat "squatty" by themselves. I'd think the last thing you'd want is an additional 50lbs of jack plate plus the motor on a 6"-8" lever hanging off the transom.
