fishingfool485
Need some help. I was having a problem with my 2008 F250 on my Pathfinder. I replaced my lift pump, replaced the fuse, and replaced the primer bulb. Boat ran great again only problem is when I stop to fish or hang out the motor starves for fuel and the primer bulb goes soft. Any ideas?
justfish
Soft or flat? It's not really gonna be rock hard, but if it's going flat it's a problem on the tank side of the ball. When mine was doing it, some stuff floating around tank was sucked up and stuck on the filter screen on the pickup tube.
fishingfool485
Soft. A couple of pumps and motor runs great. How would I check?
Bamaskeet
Did you buy an OEM primer bulb. The aftermarket versions are not reliable. it sounds like the valves in the primer bulb are not working.

fishingfool485
Perfect I will pick it up today. Thanks. Now to get to the tank. I suppose it's in the console
Headhunter
Depending on the model there is an inspection plate covering it. Yours is probably in the console. Later models have it through the deck further aft. Good luck.
Wanaflatsfish
Be sure to blow out the siphon tube and fuel line with an air hose..sometimes gunk gets stuck on the bottom filter...blow out the line from the fuel filter back as well... Check your line for air at your bulb connections...that will cause it to go flat...but, antisiphon is most likely the cause as they tend to catch debris and restrict fuel. dc
Grant
For what it's worth, even a new OEM pump/bulb is not a guarantee it's right. I had fits with brand new boat years ago because some of the brand new Mercury OEM fuel line/pump assemblies my dealer had in stock were bad. It took three replacements before one worked right. The siphon system is a likely suspect, but it might be worth the expense to at least try another bulb before disassembling the system.
