Urad
I have gel coat sent to me from Maverick to match my Pathfinder. I thought I would take it to someone for a repair but I'd like to do it myself now. What catalyst do I need to buy/use? And, any other advice you'd like to offer for a gel coat repair I would appreciate. Thanks.
Bamaskeet
MEKP, you can buy it at Lowes or Home Depot.
Bamaskeet
17 drops to 1 oz is the normal ratio, you need to adjust based on ambient temperature.
hawg
Urad , DO NOT USE MEK! What you are looking for is MEKP. They are two different things. You can find MEKP catalyst at any fiberglass supply shop. It has a shelf life in Florida of about 90 days. After 90 days you will begin to get less than satisfactory results. The gel coat cure will vary with temperature and humidity levels. I'd recommend starting with a small inconspicuous area first. Pay strict attention to the mix ratios when using small batches. Urad
Thanks to you both. Got the MEKP and looking forward to the repair.
