Irishbilly
Hi guys. Replacing my anchor rope today i noticed a 5" hole in the base of my anchor well. The boat is older but a friend has the same in his hewes. As i dont use my anchor ive not noticed this before. Why is this hole there? Should it have an access porthole fitted? Or can anyone give me some insight? Thanks
oldsalt
Just a guess, but I would say it is to drain the water from the anchor line. I have an anchor locker and it has a partion on the stern side that allows the water to flow under it.
Irishbilly
I got a drain hole for the water too but a 5inch hole besode it is a bit strange!, the anchor can fit down it.
oldsalt
Is it possible the PO cut it to fit a long anchor? Can't see anyother reason, unless it was cut to gain access for wiring of TM or ?
