Phinz13 Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 Now that Ive got a 2016 motor, Im interested in getting all the engine data on my Garmin 741xs. Has anyone attempted this project? I've seen a few demos on you tube, just wondering how difficult it is to run the cable from the motor to the console in a Pathfinder.
Headhunter Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 Piece of cake. You need a nema starter kit and a cable from the motor to the network. Google BOE Marine. They have all the stuff at the right price and good customer service on top of that. They sell Lowarance but their cable fits Yamaha and it was way cheaper than Garmin. I did two boats and the hardest part is pulling the cable to the console. You will love it when you get done.
FunFlatsFishing Posted August 8, 2017 Report Posted August 8, 2017 There are two bolts where the conduit connects to the engine cowling. Loosen those while feeding the NMEA cable. Will make life a whole lot easier.
Phinz13 Posted August 8, 2017 Author Report Posted August 8, 2017 Thanks guys, just ordered the cable. already have a NMEA network between gps & radio so Im hoping that i can add to that. Looks like a project for a windy day
