whichwaysup Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 I have an odd one. My steering wheel has begun to squeak when it is turned fully from one side to the other. I don't think it has anything to do with the hydraulic steering, but I thought I'd check for an obvious cause before taking it apart. It is a tilt steering wheel and the area where it is squeaking is covered up by a rubber aaccordion-style cover. Before I start disassembling it, any obvious causes/easy fixes?
DaveC Posted August 8, 2017 Report Posted August 8, 2017 The back side of tat tilt helm is a mechanical knuckle (inside that silicone cover), I can't recall where to lube it but if you look at the Seastar website I think it has some directions. The problem is the lube can also heat up and melt so something high temp (I guess?) would be recommended.
whichwaysup Posted August 8, 2017 Author Report Posted August 8, 2017 Thanks Dave - I'll take a look once this rain ends!
