Drummer
My Rule 800 GPH livewell pump croaked. Any idea on the best place to buy another, or is there another brand I should consider? Any secret tips on the install, like maybe waterproof fittings for easy replacement?
Bamaskeet
I buy my pumps on eBay. I use a Deutch connector and carry a spare, so I can change a bad pump in the field quickly.
Drummer
Thanks, Bamaskeet. I ordered one today.
fishmanjj
The 800 tournament series should be just replacing the cartridge and reconnect the wires....like Bamaskeet said....go with deutch connectors and it's a 5 minute job .... just remember to turn the ball valve off if you are in the water. I usually buy two at a time and always keep a spare in the boat....so far, I've got mine through Amazon.
Drummer
Are deutch connectors easy to use? I have read they require an expensive crimp tool.
Bamaskeet
You are correct, factory Deutch crimping pliers are expensive but there are Chinese copies that work well and will not break the bank.
Wanaflatsfish
Go to west marine and buy a spare...buy the 3yr warranty for $5 or so and when it craps out...you get a new one for free.... dc
