Hawaii Posted August 10, 2017 Report Posted August 10, 2017 Aloha All, there was a thread a while back discussing a members experience with a repower for an early 2000's HPX/Bonefisher. I can't seem to find this thread and was looking for some help. I have been running a 2004 18' Bonefisher with a Yamaha 115 2-stroke. I was hoping to down size to a new Yamaha 70 four stroke, save a hundred pounds, and a bunch of gas. Don't generally run far or fast. Any suggestions welcome!
Nag Juice Posted August 11, 2017 Report Posted August 11, 2017 That's a bold strategy Cotton. Let's see if it pans out. That combo might be the Prius of flats boats, but I think it would struggle with 2-3 people. Not to mention it could hurt your resale for being under powered. What's the weight of the 2 stroke and your VRO tank? Surely it would have to even out or be kind of close to a new F90 or F115.
Hawaii Posted August 11, 2017 Author Report Posted August 11, 2017 360lbs 115 2-stroke vs. 250lbs 70 4-stroke. The new Yamaha 90hp is close to the same weight (350) as the 115.
Hawaii Posted August 13, 2017 Author Report Posted August 13, 2017 Anyone recall the post on downsizing power?
