conocean
Boat stored inside Ft Lauderdale CAT 4 warehouse Glades fish camp anchored to the bedrock in Choko Merritt's boatyard at max capacity on the hard & all slips filled Pompano Bch home is secured; my PGT impact windows & doors may be in for a real test!! Best wishes to all of you preparing for this storm!
JEM
Those are the cream of the sportfisherman crop!!!! I hope they make it through unscathed, along with everyone in south Florida. If I saw a picture of those Merritt's piled on top of each other, I would have to break down and cry!!!!
whichwaysup
Man, I hope those sportfishermen under cover have more clearance than it looks like they do in case of a big storm surge!
Capt. Troy
This stinks. Boats can be replaced. Hang tough over there and all of ya be careful I am really worried about our forum weatherman. Bubba is working I'm sure. Times like this will show you who your friends are. I have been fortunate enough to afford to over stock some stuff. If my friends go without so will I.

Wanaflatsfish
Paul, Who lifted all the heavy metal after you moved your skiff into the warehouse ? B safe...Looks like you got it nailed...plus you are up a ways from where the real storm winds are going to hit....I have my skiff tied down to the side of the house...barring a large tree hitting it...i hope for the best...it's between two houses...let's see Monday morning. Btw, after the storm, our beloved Choko will take on a whole new meaning with the changes in the channels from the storm surge....all our secret spots are gona change for sure I fished back after Wilma with Capt Peter Babb....we ran his skinny mini 17T from Port of the Islands down to New Turkey....it was like running land mines with trees everywhere....almost impossible to fish....I can imagine it will be the same for a long time...nothing like running WOT across a bight you knew to find it full of mangrove trees 1/2 burried...but, on the good side...that's snook cover Of course, like my daughter sayz....all the redfish are going to loose track of their friends they hand out with in the mangroves and get seperated with the wind and the storm (LOL).... conocean
Some yacht Captains want their yachts under cover, some in slips & others hauled out. There hasn't been more than a 6' storm surge at Merritts in any storm since the 40's. I think its a gamble to keep em under cover though. Dino- A F650 dumptruck is parked in front of my boat in that warehouse. That metal isnt going anywhere! Conditions are deteriorating here in Pompton. Choko will surely never be the same but I will start over if I have to!! Best of luck to all of us in the path of Irma....
Brent B
Paul! I hope your camper in choko doesn't become a shallow water reef. Let me know if you need any help at all! Lets all pray for the island we love known as Chokoloskee!
justfish
I used copious amounts of foam, silicone and sealed off crawlspace and caulked and taped doors shut. Even plugged sewer. Boarded up from there cause my neighborhood is still a big construction zone from Matthew. I literally just got done fixing up from having to gut the place from that storm...I ain't goin down without a fight this time. Overkill? Unnecessary? I sure hope so
JEM
I heard a report of looting out on Wilmington Island. Here is somebody getting ready for them!
Capt. Troy
Well, the extra lines are on the boat and we are ready as we can get. Poor guy showed up from Stuart with a 35 Cabo yesterday and is tied across from me. He now realized he has come to the wrong place. Took him and his mate to the store and managed to find them a place to stay. The had planned on staying on the boat. Not sure the docks can take it but no other real options. Got both my boys here and the vehicles are sitting in a 100 acre pasture with no trees on it. One other buddy here also as he is going to get flooded. Good luck and be safe. Here is somebody getting ready for them! It's not surprising that looters are out already. Last year after Matthew, a friend of mine in the local police dept, warned me of people riding thru neighborhoods while wearing night vision gear looking into windows to see if there was activity in homes where the power was out. Their intention was to loot these homes. Well, I'm ready for any and all takers if they want to rumble. If 90rds of .223, 100+rds of .45ACP, 100rds of .38 Special can't stop the initial attempt at entry, then there's PLENTY more where it came from!
