Little surprise

Went out this afternoon looking for stripe bass without much love,  Caught 1 small one but caught a speckle trout that we never catch this time of year this far north, mid Chesapeake bay.  Hit the low tide and marked some fish but no bites but one.  Trout for dinner tomorrow.

I'll bet your HPS works the Eastern Shore estuaries like a champ !

Your right, I live on the western shore but mainly fish the eastern side.  About a 12 mile ride across but a different world over there.

That is cool. I had no idea that speckled trout made their way up well into the Chesapeake Bay until one of my tagged trout was recaptured in Poquoson, Va.....9 months after being tagged in the Cape Fear River, Southport NC.

Very cool.   You guys have stripers and a smattering of trout, here in Wilmington NC, we have trout and a smattering of stripers.  Seems like maybe we could trade?

There is some good spec. trout fishing in the Poquoson River and on the “Poquoson Flats” in the bay off Poquoson (lots of grass). Memories from 15/20 years ago.

Who would have thought that far north this late.  Water had to be below 50.  Nice trout.

Water was 47 degrees.

Whew!   That is about as low as they can stand!  Nice one!
