BrettN Posted February 13, 2018 Report Posted February 13, 2018 I'm currently running a 19 pitch 3 blade (Craigslist special) and it gets the job done fine. But I can only get the top end to about 5700 rpms. Hole shot is good but I don't really know what to expect I just know it's a lot faster than my old 130. Any suggestions? I can't find many people with this combo. I was thinking of a 17 pitch 4 blade.
Nag Juice Posted February 13, 2018 Report Posted February 13, 2018 I have a Yamaha 3 blade 14.5x21. I can hit low-mid 50s and the hole shot is great. I had a OFX4-17 and hated it. I couldn’t tell much difference on the hole shot and the top end was high 40s. The 4 blade had no lift and the boat didn’t ride as well compared to the 3 blade.
BrettN Posted January 19, 2019 Author Report Posted January 19, 2019 I now have a Yamaha performance 3 blade 20P. Good hole shot and grip and tops out around 50. Just got done rewiring boat and moved both starting batteries to console which should make hole shot even better, haven't got to run it yet. Jack plate is pretty useless unless on flat water and in a straight line, but it was the same with old motor. Pretty much only use it when idling in shallow water.
triplec Posted February 19, 2019 Report Posted February 19, 2019 If it helps...got a buddy who runs the M-21 Yamaha Pro Series 14.5 X 21 on his Hewes LT that he just re-powered few months ago with a new F150. His boats is tad lighter than yours but he runs low 50's at the top of his max rpm.
