JEM
I was wondering how the trout fishing is going down yonder? Me and a few fishing buddies are thinking about a quick 2 or 3 day trip down there in a week or so. I have never even been to Apalachicola Bay, but we would be staying on St. George Island. How is the trout fishing? Reds? Any areas to look at or artificials to stock up on if we do it? Thanks for any insight!
Bamaskeet
Trout fishing in Aplachicola in the summertime can be tough. I would use a Mirrodine XL in silver w/black back or blue back and fish around Goose Island. Try to stay in 2'-3' of water. Your best bet for redfish would be live pinfish in the cut. JEM
Would the last weekend of May be considered "summertime?" It sounds like trout fishing could be sloooowwww, based on your report. I was going to take my boat, but if the fishing is slow, I might have to pass! LOL
Bamaskeet
The fall trout fishing is very good in Aplachicola. The summer trout fishing is usually a slow pick but there can be some big trout mixed in.
JEM
I looked up some guide websites, and all the trout pictures appear to be taken in the fall and winter........long sleeves, sweaters, etc! Oh well.......
craSSh
There’s plenty of trout out there in the bay. Cobia around the buoys and markers. They catch a lot of triple tail around the island. In the cut and on the east end they are catching pompano. Prolly a lil early for tarpon. I have a friend that fishes off the old bridge and he catches reds all the time. greenbone
I usually target the reds , but there are still some nice trout around , not to mention a few flattys. These were caught Thursday 24th bayside of Dog Island
