Bloch776
I have a small compartment in the front of my console that doesn’t serve much of a purpose for me. I just picked up my new seats from sandy over the weekend and realized the back rest cushion has a piece of pvc board on the back of it. Do I remove the compartment and fill it? (With what?) or have the pvc taken off and back of cushion stitched up and put snaps on it and keep the compartment? Can any one speak on how the tackle storage systems work on newer models. fin-addict
if possible I would keep as is and add snaps to console and pvc board, jmo
Lap it Up
Definitely helps for accessing the inside of the console. I’d leave it
Bloch776
If I leave it, the cushion with pvc board will not sit flush to console unless I cut a chunk out of the board... the same size as the door. Thoughts?
smilemaker
Take a piece of starboard and make a frame to fit the back of the cushion that is thicker than the storage box. You can attatch it with a piano hinge at the top and have a secret compartment. Best of both worlds.
HoneyB
I was thinking piano hinge too. Maybe even the lift off hinges like on the newer model doors that way you could lift it or just slide the back rest off. I would think building up the console or cutting out a piece of the seat would be personal prefrance.
Bloch776
I’d rather not build it up anymore if I don’t have to

SCFD rtrd.
Remove the door and add a gasket around the opening. Attach the backrest with lift-off hinges at the bottom and a latch at the top. Your backrest will be almost flush with the console front and you'll still have access to the console for maintenance.
Bloch776
Think I’m going to remove the door and add a gasket. I have a bunch of other small Projects going on with the boat right now too. Thanks guys
