rubble
Replacing inline strainers and bad pump. Is it okay to use the teflon tape on the threads or should pipe joint compound (pipe dope) be used?
fishmanjj
I've only used teflon tape and have never had any leak issues after replacing pumps.

mulligan
I have used Teflon without issue but when it comes to fittings that need to be oriented in only one way to work I use silicone or something similar. With silicone you have more room to play with the position as sometime to turn the fitting to where you need it is sometimes on the loose side or you have to crank on it to get it where you want. Once the sealant dries it will not leak and is easy to remove in the future if need be.
