smboudreaux
In the process of refurbing my lt20. Completely redoing the electrical and repairing all the fiberglass. I have cable glands on order for the power cable. The transducer cable has a large side scan transducer on one end and a plug much larger than the cable on the other. What's everyone doing for a water tight seal here?
HewesYourDaddy
Stainless clamshell over the hole, then silicone caulk the hole from the underside to keep it water tight. I’ve done that to several previous boats. Works very well.
mulligan
Clamshells work and have used them. They also make some that hide the wires and holes. I made one out of fiberglass so I could match my grey hull.
smboudreaux
Clamshell is a good idea. Didn't think about that. I'm asking about going through the console. I didn't know if someone 2 piece type cable gland
smilemaker
I can't remember the company but there is a multipiece fitting. The base fits the console and is large enough for the cable end to go through the top and base. A rubber piece with a slit goes over cable and the top screws on and compresses the rubber to seal. I have seen them in various sizes. Hopefully someone will know the manufacturer.
HewesYourDaddy
I just re-read this. Are you asking about covering/sealing a hole in the console or on the transom area?
smboudreaux
Console. I just ran over the transom and into the hull with the control cables
smilemaker
Blue seas system Cable clam is similar to what I was thinking of. The top does not screw down to increase the seal tightness but it accomplishes the same thing and gives a clean look.

That's very useful info. Thanks. I'm going to pass this along to some friends who are in the process of rigging a few personal boats.
