GrayAngelfish
On the older console rod holders they seemed to be more like actual rod holders which have a bottom to them on the newer boats its just a piece with a hole in it that holds the rod in place but the rod sits against the deck below with bigger rods. I feel like with larger offshore rods the butts are going to scratch the deck below the holders. Has anyone else noticed this issue and done anything about it? I'm thinking about just putting a piece of like nonskid tape down but I don't think it will stick to the nonskid of the gel coat.
Limitless
See if someone has a small piece of leftover seadek and use that. You could also put a 1/4" stainless bolt through the bottom of the rod holder tube to stop the rod for going all the way through.
GrayAngelfish
Sea deck isn't a bad idea. The bolt would't work since they aren't traditional rod holders. It is just 2 horizontal pieces with holes in it.
