Flatschaser Posted May 19, 2019 Report Posted May 19, 2019 Getting ready to install a Ipilot on the 01 Pathy 2200. I need some advice on the quick release puck. Does anyone have a similar model and year with a picture to give me some ideas as far as angle and depth. I don’t see a way to mount it without at least one bolt going between the run rail and hull. I have installed numerous ones on previous boats and obviously have the template with the mount.
Vapor Trail Posted May 20, 2019 Report Posted May 20, 2019 You need to mount both parts of the plate on the trolling motor and then stand the shaft up. The manual says 1.5 inches of clearance between the shaft and the rub rail but I only used 5/8 and it works great. Also, this way you can make sure the head is inside the profile of the boat so when you are docked the trolling motor isn't hitting anything. The head of mine is about 3 or 4 inches inside the edge of the boat.
triplec Posted May 21, 2019 Report Posted May 21, 2019 I did as vapor said. Even still your puck looks too far forward to me. Different boat but the overhang should be the same. I would for sure get a hand and deploy the motor for the best idea.
craSSh Posted May 23, 2019 Report Posted May 23, 2019 I told my installer to cover up the holes from the old trolling motor, here’s what he did. I still need to trim the star board to match the contours of the boat. Hope these help
smilemaker Posted May 23, 2019 Report Posted May 23, 2019 Not to be overly critical but a good installer would have easily filled the hole with a little glass mat and finished with some thickened gelcoat. Even a half way match would look better in my opinion. Sorry for critical reply but we have a lot Invested.
SSN651 Posted May 25, 2019 Report Posted May 25, 2019 I used a Minn Kota 1854054 RTA-54. I had to use self tapping screws at the bow, drill 2 more holes for a total of 4 screws with washers and nylock nuts - 6 holes in total. See pics below.
SSN651 Posted May 25, 2019 Report Posted May 25, 2019 BTW, on my 2006 2200 PF, I did have to go through the area between the rubrail & hull with some through screws and ss washers and nylocks. The pics above are for a 1996 Bayfisher 18. Chuck 😁
