4 blade suggestion for HPX S

Any suggestions would be helpful.  Currently have a 3 blade and it runs fine - at 6000 rpms Im doing 36-37, with just me in the boat.  Looking for a little more of a hole shot.  The 15 pitch Power Tech sent me only got me up to 4000 rpms.  Boat has jack plate, tabs and shallow water power pole if that helps.

Something doesn't seem right here... You have a 17HPX-S with the 70HP Yamaha? You should be able to reach 6000 with the 15 Powertech no problem.

I currently run the 16Pitch 3 blade on my HPX-S. I can run 42MPH at 6300RPMS.

I previously ran the 15Pitch 4 blade on my HPX-S. I would get 39MPH at 6200PRMS.

I also run jackplate, tabs, and powerpole. Have you adjusted your trim and jackplate while running?

Yes sir, with the 3 blade and just me on the boat I can get very close to what you've gotten with your 3 blade.  With the 4 blade - I tried all the scenarios with the trim and jack plate (looking for that optimum running) and it struggled to get over 4200 - which was giving me about 20-22 mph

Naples Mav:  I am Naples too.  I am running a 14P Turbo.  Great hole shot and I can spin to 6300 as well.  37 is my Max but I usually cruise at 28-30 depending on load at 48-5000 RPMs.

I fish Goodland a lot.

I was looking for this specific question / answer as well.

How can I get more holeshot out of my ‘19 HPX S? I have all the same specs: F70, 37-38 MPH w/ 2 of us. I just want to jump on plane as quick as possible.

Naples  Maverick, There seem to be numerous variables which might explain the lack of performance from the 4 blade prop. I recently had a mis-stamped prop sent to me by Power-Tech. Although the prop had the proper stamp on it, the diameter and pitch did not match the stamp. If other operators are getting vastly different numbers than you, you might want to check the prop to see if it's diameter and pitch are what they should be.

I agree....looks a bit large for a 15 P?   No way should you be hitting only 20-24 ....

I just talked to Steven at Power Tech yesterday. I don't own an HPX S but I'm seriously considering ordering one. Steven recommended a SCD4R15PYM90 ported 5/16" for that boat with the Yamaha 70. Recommendations from Power Tech have been spot on for me in the past. Hope this helps.

I seem to have a similar experience.  I had three blade. Wanted a better hole shot. Called power tech and gave them my WOT and they sent me a 4 blade prop. Can’t recall exactly what it is.  But I am only getting 4400 rpms WOT and 33mph In a 2002 , maverick HPX no tunnel HPX 2 with a 90 hp Yamaha 2 stroke. I did recently install a jack plate

Its making some rev sounds. Like rev up and then rev down. Like I am moving the throttle.  The revs change a little. Can’t say it feels like cavitation but maybe. Sounds like it is struggling.  I have been told I may be over propped and need a hydrofoil.  A cavitation plate

any ideas?

thanks
