1gunner
I’m a bit disappointed in how badly my ‘07 Redfisher 18 tends to squat and porpoise unless quite a bit of tab was used to offset this. I find myself continually having to adjust to when running. I was considering moving to an HPX V 18. How does the HPX compare in this regard? JnamJnam
Depends on how you outfit the boat. I had a HPX18V with a 115 that in my opinion floated very level. No porpoise problems at all. I've seen a couple HPX18V's that guys have rigged with 150 and 175HP motors with duel power-poles. Those boats squat... Keep it simple the boat is designed as a poling skiff. Not a bass boat! Stx4wheeler
I use very little tab adjustment on my 18 HPX-V and I would not say it is overly squatty. It has a 115 though. The 150 and up powered boats to experience more squat.
conocean
I have friends that own 18HPX's with the F115 & F150, both have 8' Powerpoles like mine. We've had them side by side by side in the water. My HPX powered by an F90 & the one with the F115 appear to sit in the water almost identically. The HPX with the F150 on it squats about 1.5" more but still much less squat than a RF with the same motor. RF's are squatty boats. That's just how they are.
