Happy Lappy
I'm installing a fuel water separator on my 92 Redfisher since it didn't have one. I need to know what side of the primer bulb it needs to be installed. I started questioning myself so I went online and I'm seeing it installed on both sides of the primer. I would think the filter needs to be mounted between the fuel tank and the primer bulb.
whichwaysup
That's how mine is rigged. Tank - line - fuel/water separator - bulb - engine
hawg
Mine are rigged between the water separator and the engine. Work fine.
smilemaker
I have mine before the fuel water seperator. That way you can push gas into the filter. If it is after the filter you have to pull it in and that is more difficult for the bulb to do.

HoneyB
After the filter .. pull gas all the way through the filter to the motor. Do not underestimate the power of suction, you will be fine
jason p
Doesn’t matter.
BrownBear
Dunno a thing about theory, but our ace boat mechanic who has been right about everything else prefers it between the fuel sep and the engine. At the very least it keeps the bulb next to the engine where it's easy to get to.

A Yamaha ball with only one check valve will definitely struggle to fill an empty filter.
HoneyB
Also hold the bulb in a upright position when priming. Vertical with the arrow up allows the check to seat.
