Magnum
My 2014 2300 HPS didn't come with a compass. I'm thinking about adding one and looking for suggestions. Most likely Ritchie, thinking surface mount so I don't have to cut a hole. Looking for something small as possible. Send suggestions and pictures, please. fin-addict
Richie I feel is the best for the money, little higher than others. Surface mount not gimble, jmo
Bamaskeet
I suggest a Ritchie “Power Damp” flat card compass. Flush mount it in the middle of the console. ( yes, cut a big hole, move the anchor light fitting to a corner of the console) I had an electrical gremlin 31 miles offshore last year and lost all my electronics. No problem, hit the inlet on the nose, with just using my compass.
HoneyB
Ritchie super sport blue dial .. made for sport boats has more dampening. Yes I know you said no cutting but I honestly do not see how your going to get a nice compass without throwing in a surface mount

If you really feel like you need a compass, a small higher quality hand-held will do just fine.....I see no reason for a large on deck compass for inshore/near shore fishing / navigating....with today's technology, you don't need to drill...a good navigation compass hand held as a back up IMHO is all you need. I just picked up a "bad elf" GPS for my iPhone pretty cool toy....can't wait to use it this weekend in the glades... DC
Dobey1
I have a new in box Ritchie X-21 with back light for sale. I was going to add this in on an Andros I owned and never got around to installing before sale. Shipped $25 they are great, small and will get you to land safe. hawg
Whichever compass you choose, check to determine the effects of nearby electronics and ferrous metals on the accuracy of the compass, before you start drilling screw holes.
