algi
Was thinking of making the inspection hatch larger. Will that weaken the transom or anything else? Thanks

Limitless
If you're talking about replacing the "pie hole" on a Hewes, a lot of folks have done it. T&H Marine makes a removable rectangular model that works great. I think the size that works best is their 13"x17" - but you should measure to be sure. Doing the replacement sure makes it easier to work in the bilge for wiring, replacing pumps, etc.
algi
Something that has to be done for sure. I have a maverick MA. 17 Put in a new bilge with the pie hole and it wasn't easy. Now i want to change out valve for bait well but not with pie hole thats for sure. New hatch first Thanks

nicecast
I've always had this mental picture of 7' tall, rail thin, long armed techs at the Maverick factory changing bilge pumps by "feel" and with one hand - and wondering why all the fuss about access hatches! Donh
Not familiar with your model but just make sure you have sufficient flat surface to mount the frame. And get the one that the cover or lid lifts off, not hinged. dh
