Wanaflatsfish
I decided to upgrade to the new MK Instinct after seeing it at Master Repair last week. Mike told me in his entire career he's never seen such a Commercial grade self deploy trolling motor. Personally, I believe the MK has made a very strategic move to go after the larger boat market....e.g. 25 + open fisherman. Mike told me he's installed many of the MK Instinct 87" and 108" on mega open consoles for anchoring over wrecks etc. here are pics of the install for anyone considering it. Couple of major things The footprint is huge - you need to remove the bow cleat it's heavy - 91 lbs you need to remove your previous puck - I had placed a huge amount of 5200 on the front holes of the puck and could not reach the nuts, so I had to cut off the tops of the nuts on the puck and then tapped them through.....I need a bit of gelcoat cleaning and some touch up's, but, in general, I think it came out all right. IT'S A BEAST PICS FOLLOW....I INSTALLED IT LAST NIGHT WITH MY NEPHEW...IT'S A 2 MAN JOB FO SURE AFTER I TOOK OFF THE PUCK....I DECIDED TO INSTALL IT OVER THE CLEAT HOLE....I STILL NEED TO FIX THE HOLE WITH SOME RESIN AND GEL COAT....MORE TO COME ON THIS...BUT, WANTED TO GET THIS ON AND WORKING.

Big Dave
Dino, did you consider the PP Move? Curious why you decided on the Minn Kota versus the PP?

On a skiff...your distance from console to TM is about 12 " ; on a large Center console, I need to walk from behind the console, step u over the first step of the HPS, drop, it then return....if I'm guiding photography for someone, this makes it a lot easier.... with the move, you still need to walk up and drop...and then return and pull up.... Plus, I like toys time will tell on the reliability .... dc

ASB
Thanks for Sharing. I’m considering trading up to the instinct. I talked to the guys from Minn Kota at the Miami Boat Show and they showed me an aluminum plate that mounts to the boat and then the quick release puck mounts to the plate. I didn’t think about the Bow Cleat. I would hate to lose it. Maybe it could be moved over a bit? Have you had any problems with it yet?
