Unsupported, the shafts will cushion the impact from a sudden jarring. just a thought. Good point. Maybe Minkota has this considered in the design?? rubble
I've read on some other forums where people have hit some pretty big wakes or waves and the head has bounced off of the deck. I hope I never make the kind of a move that I'm crossing anything like that but in case I run into such an unfortunate event, I may just opt for the ram to avoid damage to the deck or the head. whichwaysup
Dang - that would be one heck of a hit! I think I'd worry about more than the TM getting damaged! I guess shaft length may have an impact on that, though. The longer the shaft, the more head beating could occur. Wow, that didn't sound like I meant for it to. . . . mulligan
Is there a way to support them in say the center of the shaft? You know how those low tech tillers are supported to have some spring to them
Dogparty
Many thanks for the detailed photos and posts. How is your rig working out? And what did you decide about stabilizing the head when stowed? Also, how did you handle the Link cable? Did you somehow rig it for quick disconnect? It looks like the cable connects inside the TM head, and is at least 10' long. I am just staring the process with a new Riptide Ulterra 80 with the iPilot-Link, and this helps a lot! - Old Dog
rubble
I went with Ram mount. Works great. One pic shows mount locked and one it is unlocked.
