jensenjeff Posted April 10, 2020 Report Posted April 10, 2020 Supposed to be heading down to Lower Matecumbe in 4 weeks to my time share. What do you all think? Quote
JnamJnam Posted April 10, 2020 Report Posted April 10, 2020 I would bet that the keys will be open again in 4 weeks... Quote
fin-addict Posted April 10, 2020 Report Posted April 10, 2020 Wait and see what is happening by then. If keys opened and things are still like the way they are now, stay home. JMO Quote
MuddyBottomBluz Posted April 10, 2020 Report Posted April 10, 2020 Just keep an eye on the roadblocks, when there gone you're in, until then forget about it. I got my timeshare this month in Key Largo, so I am writing that on off, I have another in June and that is the one i'm hoping things are back to normal. Quote
jensenjeff Posted April 10, 2020 Author Report Posted April 10, 2020 Thank you all for your input, everyone stay well. Quote
hawg Posted April 10, 2020 Report Posted April 10, 2020 If you have a time-share. I would think they would let you past the roadblocks. Technically speaking, you are a property owner. Call the Monroe County Sheriffs Office and ask them. Quote

I am a home owner there and not allowed to go to my home. 😡 Quote

Even if it is your secondary home, you should be able to drive to it and stay there, as long as you are traveling in your own car and not carrying a bus load of people, IMO. If you're coming from a high risk area out of state, like New York... that's another story. Quote

Of course, you could take a boat across the sound... Quote

They are not allowing Non Resident Owners across the bridge. I do not want to stay there, just want to go shut it down. Quote

MuddyBottomBluz Posted April 13, 2020 Report Posted April 13, 2020 If you pay property taxes for the house then you should be allowed in, you are a property owner Bottom line! I would inquire about them reducing your property taxes accordingly to account for the time you were not allowed to access said property. I don't see how they are allowed to get away with that? Timeshares are a different animal, yes in my case it is deeded to me, however Monroe county closed all hotels, motels, etc. so the facility is where my timeshare is located is closed. Quote
Chief5130 Posted April 13, 2020 Report Posted April 13, 2020 There is a law suit that might get this resolved. I agree with all of the above comments. At a minimum I should like to get a credit for the taxes, even if it is only a couple of hundred dollars. Quote
fishmanjj Posted April 13, 2020 Report Posted April 13, 2020 Good luck getting anything from the Govt. Quote

Been in Hatteras for nearly a month and enjoying the solitude. Problem is I didn't bring the boat as I didn't think I would be here this long or that I would be unable to re-enter if I left. I'm working on a solution to get it here as fishing should start getting pretty good soon. Quote

rckeat Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 A buddy of mine is going to pull it to the bridge, and a resident friend of mine is going to cross over and pull it back. Just trying to coordinate schedules. But thanks for the offer. Quote
Lap it Up Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 Fingers are definitely crossed! I have two trips to Islamorada scheduled. End of May and beginning of July. Quote
SouthernWake Posted April 15, 2020 Report Posted April 15, 2020 Every year I go to SW Fl to chase tarpon for a week around Memorial Day. One of the highlights of my year. Guess what isn’t happening this year....stupid virus. Quote
jensenjeff Posted April 25, 2020 Author Report Posted April 25, 2020 Well I just heard the bad news on our local NBC affiliate out of West Palm Beach that Monroe County will not be opened for non residents through the month of May and possibly sometime into June. So at least I know for sure now and will have to wait till next May to enjoy my timeshare, bummed out big time!! Good news is that I live in a pretty fishy area and have some great options here on the Treasure Coast. Quote
StPeteBonefisher Posted April 25, 2020 Report Posted April 25, 2020 Ya I’m missing out on an Islamorada trip now too. Had a couple days booked towards the end of May. Quote
ofdphildo Posted May 2, 2020 Report Posted May 2, 2020 Rumor has it vacation rentals shutdown for the remainder of the year in the Keys! Quote
Lap it Up Posted May 5, 2020 Report Posted May 5, 2020 KonTiki Resort called me today and allowed me to move my Memorial day reservations to first week of June. I am canceling my July 4th reservations and heading to Steinhatchee instead. Quote
