FooFoo502
a thought for the kill switch if you like the clean look of keeping it hidden away. A buddy of mine had an auto-tether for his Blackjack because he liked to move around a bit while underway at low speeds (I know...freaked me out too). Showed me how it worked at the sandbar with the engine in idle...he jumped off the side and the motor went dead instantly. There are a few versions out there...his was only about $95 but it also kills the engine if the remote goes more than 150 feet from the main unit as well as when submerged... I researched this MOB kill switch, but, it does require some additional tinkering with he ignition switch, etc. ....but, I decided to keep it on the deck.... Wanaflatsfish
So.....needed a break from work and took off Friday with the Memorial day weekend it gives me a good 4 days to work on the Ghost. Now begins the wiring.... Process: 1.) I am using a BUS system transfer 2.) I have color coded all the components 3.) I am creating ALL the switches in the rigging box under the seat 4.) Using a Blue Sea 6 switch with fuses in the panel - keeping it simple 5.) Switches: Stereo Bilge Wash Down Nav lights Live well Open for future use On Friday COTO came by to help pul round one.....hydraulic cables, throttle, and they wiring harness On Saturday Capt DonH came by and we pulled the wiring for switch panel and stereo wiring to bow The Ghost has not been run in a few weeks, so, time to crank her up and let run for 15-20 min in the tub...we hooked up the binnacle and main harnesses.....she fired right up. Here are some pics.... Laying out the wiring bus... Let there be light PULLING ALL THE WIRING.... DON H HELPING TO GUIDE THE SNAKING PROCESS... PULLING THROUGH THE CHASE.... DONH ON THE BOW GETTING READY TO SNAKE THE STEREO CABLES... EVERYONE IN THE POOL PUTTING TOGETHER THE HARNESS TO CRANK UP THE ENGINE... RUNNING THE ENGINE ON THE FUEL TANK...LOTS OF OIL TO BE SURE WE DON'T BLOW HER UP NAUGHTY GIRL PEEING ON THE WIRING HAD SOME TIME IN THE EVENING.....SO I INSTALLED THE NAVIGATION LIGHTS AND CHECKED TO SEE HOW THE FALSE FLOOR WILL FIT OVER THE CHASE.....MORE TO COME BY MONDAY NIGHT....LET'S HOPE
Big Dave
And people wonder why it costs so much to have a boat totally restored... Might drop by later after church.
seabirdb
I have been following from the start of the restoration. The boat will be better than new when done. If I was to restore one of these classic Mavericks I would follow your every step. Looking forward to seeing the finish boat and to the fish pictures. triplec
Is it too late to say dont put nav lights on console. 😲 Best thing I ever did was get mine off there and use Taco Marines new rub rail lights. Zero glare now that used to be unbearable.
THE OUTLAW
Do not put nav lights on console unless you never use em . Worst place to put them . Glare city !

Wanaflatsfish
Put the Balzout and the cord manager on the console.... I screwed things down with the intent to complete with 4200 when I finish the install soon.... I will use a small diameter hole and both the transducer and power cord will fit and I"ll seal it with some caulking.. this is the cable tamer....I really liked the design... The binnacle fits perfectly More to come this weekend......... dc
rubble
You’ll love the Balzout mount. I have one at the Bow (For my Bass fix) and one at the Helm. Super strong and versatile.

Wanaflatsfish
Made some progress today.... Forum Member COTO came by and we pulled the wiring to the console and set the batteries in place. After we got it place I rested a bit and then got inspired to continue the wiring into the evening... Wired the batteries to the trolling motor wiring and to the stern to get ready to finalize the 1/2/ALL switch... some pics from the day.... I CREATED AN EXTENDER WIRING TO THE PROMARINER AND TESTED IT OUT PRIOR TO RUNNING IT THROUGH THE CHASE. MOVING THE CONSOLE TO SKIFF.... PLACING THE BATTERIES ON THE DECK.. MAKING THE 12 TO 24V CONNECTOR.... WIRING DIAGRAM FROM MY IPAD..... USING THE 'KEN DOSS - HOBO DIAGRAM WIRING COMPLETE...... 24V AT THE TROLLING MOTOR PLUG.... CHECKING THE 12V CONNECTIONS.... MORE TO COME TOMORROW AND LATER IN THE WEEK. DC
smilemaker
I know a lot of people use Hobos diagram but I feel that it creates a possibility of using the wrong ground on other connections. By using a common ground and the positive on its battery the chances of inadvertent 24volt is minimized.

By using a common ground and the positive on its battery the chances of inadvertent 24volt is minimized. I agree....but, if you follow it and the key safety step is to 'CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO EACH CONNNECTION" it's safer to use than some others I've seen...a $30 volt meter will prevent the DIY'r from frying some expensive equipment. dc
smilemaker
Another option is to use the Yandina trollbridge system. It has advantages over the stealth system. You here more of its use on the bass forums.
Wanaflatsfish
More progress........COTO and DonH came by and we made some additional progress....earlier in the day we had to pull hydraulic line that was kinked. Later in the evening when it got cooler I set up the bleeding system....a few hours later....all good i am using the UFLEX system vs Baystar or sea Star. Settingup the return bottle Using the dual bleeders with a T Clamps on the bleeders Active progress.....turning back and forth to load the lines... you then close the bleeders and using a bottle attached to the helm station, what you do is go back and forth for a few minutes on the wheel to remove the air bubbles. Hopefully more progress today..... DC
Wanaflatsfish
Final wiring has begun.....spent the weekend making wiring connections.... I decided to make a PVC board that has all the components outside the skiff to make it a bit easier to install. I will be installing the stereo AMP, power pole motors, and battery charger Promariner under the starboard seat. The on/off battery switch will be in the rear rigging box. I also put the Power Poles on a separate on-off switch. The reason is I have had problems with blowing out boards of the PP's when I charge the batteries and I've left the on-off switch on......this is based upon what PP tech told me..... All are on a separate fuses..I also have a breaker on the trolling motor, the stereo...the rest of the electrical components are running off the 6 switches at the helm. So pics of the work...not traveling this week..so, I hope to make some progress this week in the evening. POWER POLES ON A PVC BOARD MAKES IT EASIER TO INSTALL IN THE CRAMPED SPACES EARLY IN THE DAY, LAYING OUT THE BOARD..... STEREO READYTO INSTALL. PROMARINER CHARGER MAKING VARIOUS CRIMPS TO THE BATTERY CABLES....THE CRIMPER HAS BEEN WORKING GREAT...AS THEY ARE "HOT" I WANTED TO BE SURE NO ARCING..SO, PUT A BIT OF GORILLA TAPE ON THE POS ENDS. AFTER DINNER.... LAID OF A BIT MORE WIRING..... TOP LEFT - ON-OFF-ALL SWITCH / POWERPOLE ON-OFF MIDDLE - STEREO WILL RUN ON THE MIDDLE LINE WHICH COMES DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY UNDER THE CONSOLE - UGGH...4 AWG RUN FROM THE BATTERY - HARD TO BELIEVE YOU NEED THAT MUCH WIRING..BUT, THAT'S WHAT RECOMMENDED. BOTTOM, I CHANGED THE LOCATION OF THE BATTERY BREAKER FOR THE TM AND ADDED THE BREAKER AT THE BOTTOM, I CHECKED THE CONNECTORS AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING.... THE SMALL BOARD WILL RUN THE TRIM TAB POSITIVE (BENNETS) TO THE CONSOLE AND WILL BE COMMON BUS TO THE WASH DOWN PUMP, STEREO OFF AND ON, THE NAV LIGHTS, BILGE PUMP. DC COMMON BUS...
